Let's Play Ball!

Cody got put into the last two minutes of his team's game last night and although he didn't score any points he really did hustle and his coach said so!  I'm very proud of him!  Here are some pictures from last night!  Cody is number 54.

Are you ready for some basketball!?!?!

The last post was a little less than a month ago and now we are into basketball already!  Cody tried out for the team and was cut the last night of practice.  We were all disappointed for him, but he's usually good at all the sports he participates in so it was going to be a learning experience for him.

Friday afternoon I'm sitting at home minding my own business when I hear this horn beeping wildly!  I'm thinking, we don't have teenagers around here anymore who could that be?  It was Cody's stepmom with him in tow coming to tell me that two boys had to be cut from the team because of their grades so Cody is on the team now! 

We had our first game Wednesday night...I just hope that team was unusually good or it's going to be a LONG season!  Just sayin'!  LOL

Without further delay here are some pictures of my handsome grandson in his uniform, dressed for game day at school, and then some shots from the game that night...we lost, but it was still exciting!

 

Cody didn't get to play in the game so all the shots are of warm ups and this last picture his coach had him trying to block shots to make the layups harder for the other boys...he did a great job at it!  :)

Tutoring has taken over!

I wanted to write about this weekend and the tournament, but this is the week before nine week exams and I have had no less than a half a dozen students schedule extra tutoring times before exams so that cuts into my free time!  I will write about the weekend and post pictures later this week or Saturday.

For today I'm going to post two pictures of Haley from this weekend.  She sometimes gets in a mood and says, "Don't picture me!"  She was in one of those moods for the first picture.  Once I asked if I could 'picture' her snow cone she was happy to be 'pictured'!  Four year olds crack me up!

Fall State Tournament Champions!

 

It's time for bed, but I couldn't turn in without letting all of you know that our Central VA Rangers did it today!  We are a brand new team this year and everyone said we couldn't do it...but we proved them wrong!

I will write more about the weekend and post more pictures tomorrow, but that's it for now!  

Oh, and yes, he rode home with me in my car...glad I spent the money on the seat covers when I bought my car!  ;)

Tournament weekend!

This is the last weekend of travel ball.  This is the State Tournament so there are many more teams in the field this weekend.  I think I remember there are 11 or 12.  We play tomorrow at 11:00 and 3:00.  We are spending the night there although it's close enough to drive back and forth we like to get a hotel when we can for Haley to swim! 

Mike is actually going with us too and we are getting two rooms!  I reserved them at separate times and requested they be adjoining so we shall see!  We usually just get one room and stack everyone, but for this trip the room is so inexpensive I decided to splurge and get two!  :)

The weather is supposed to be on the warm side (upper 70's) tomorrow, but I know the morning is going to be cool!  We will go with layers so we can shed!  LOL

Yesterday and today were good days at school.  My schedule is a good one this year and I'm able to Skype with my nephew for his math and history and occasionally help my niece with some things she needs help with!  I love Skype!  We get to see each other and it's the next best thing to being there!

MUCH better day!

I'm happy to report that the teacher who offended me yesterday came to apologize to me this afternoon. Although I think it was at the prompting of the principal, it was an apology none-the-less and I'm happy about that!

I didn't get any new students today which is a good thing at this point in my schedule, but I did realize today that my Wednesdays are might spotty!  I had a lot of breaks...not so on my Tuesday/Thursday schedule!  So I do have room on some days to add a student or two, but not much!

It's cold here...it is only about 63° and we haven't turned the heat on...I'm afraid to look at the thermostat and see what the temperature is there!  But I will suffer along with cold weather for a while!  Mike would never turn the heat on cause all he sees are dollar signs when it's on, but I am not that way!

Well, still haven't loaded the pictures on my computer and I don't feel like doing it now!  I'm bad, I know it!  I will check in again tomorrow!  Two more days until our last baseball tournament!  Yippie!

What a day!

This is a day I wish not to repeat in the near future!  First of all the day started with several parents and teachers speaking to me about tutoring some new students. After some rearranging of students I was able to fit the ones in who wanted to start today.

That meant I really only had a couple of breaks today and during one of them one of my former students wanted to talk to me so I didn't have much time at all today!

Then at the end of the day I had a run in with one of the teachers in the high school which seems to be a yearly event lately and I don't like it at all!

I'm sure things will be okay in the end...just had to vent!  :)

Baseball again...

Cody's team came in second in this tournament again this week!  One of these days we are going to get the championship!  But today was a great day to celebrate because one of Cody's best friends hit his first out of the park homerun today!  I didn't think of the camera until he was already around the bases, but here are a few shots from today's game!

Notice the boys have new uniforms, but the company got the name on them wrong so we are getting new ones with Rangers across the chest bigger!  :)  You would think that a company that does this for a living would actually know how to put print on a jersey!

Well, I started this yesterday and haven't loaded the pictures from my camera so I'm gonna post with pictures to be posted later!  :)

I am at my wit's end with Verizon DSL!  It goes out almost every night around 8:40 or so for about 5 or 10 minutes.  I was calling every night, but I kept getting the same old song and dance that they couldn't do anything about it unless it was still out, but it took so long to get a real live person on the phone it was always back on before I could talk to someone!  I think we will not be having this service long term!  I think I'm on a one year contract, you can bet your bottom dollar that when July 1st comes around next year I WILL have something else!  LOL

Just checking in....

For those of you who follow me, don't fall off your chairs!  I'm actually posting two days in a row!  There isn't much to report, but I thought I'd write a little something.

I worked with my new student yesterday and I'm anxious to see how she catches on.  From her classroom teachers they say she doesn't catch on quickly, but coming from a homeschooling environment she is used to one on one attention so I'll see what I can do to make sure she has the skills she needs for the classroom to work independently!  If she doesn't have those skills we will have a lot of hard work ahead of us! :)  I will work as hard as she will to get her back up to grade level!

I had a parent and a teacher talk to me yesterday about two separate students so I might be adding a couple more, but I'm almost at my limit already this year!  I have to leave a time slot for my nephew to do his math and history with him this year with Skype.  I'm already enjoying that and second period is the time slot I have for that and will start doing it from school now since I added Heather to my schedule, but I still have a few afternoon time slots that I can fill in!  I don't want to take anymore after school or at home!  Last year I tutored at home until 8:00 at night and I just don't want to do that.  Right now my latest is 6:00 and that's good for me!

On the family front everything is fine!  My dad and his wife of almost one year (10/10) are living in their new home in MI now and are adjusting to that. Cody is one point away from being on honor roll for this 9 weeks.  I told Michele to find out what subject it was so I could help him out with it!  :)  He has to make honor roll to get his facebook account back!  Haley can say her months of the year.  I tried to get her on video saying them, but she wouldn't do it for me.  I will try this weekend when we are at the ball field to have her do it again so I can share it with y'all!  I'm sure you are ALL wanting to see/hear it!  LOL

No new pictures to share...haven't had the camera out of my purse since the last ball weekend! I need to charge it to get ready for this weekend!  :)
